PetroChoice, a leading distributor of lubricants, oils, fluids, and greases is currently recruiting for a talented HR Assistant to join our team and participate in the hiring process from beginning to end. The HR Assistant will assist with all day-to-day human resources functions and duties. In fact, we distribute and offer our services from more than 50 locations in 32 states every day and include top brands of oils, greases, and other lubricants.

Include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time. All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing for the organization;
  • Maintain an efficient filing system for employee and company records;
  • Assist in payroll and perform all tasks associated with payroll processing or employee data updates.
  • Assist with the calculation, processing, and payment of commissions for sales and fuel commissioned employees.
  • Assist in the completion of employment verification requests, process 401k loans/payoffs, etc.
  • Assist with enrolling new employees into benefit plans and canceling terminated employees as well as coordinate with Cobra administrator for Cobra compliance.
  • Respond to routine requests for benefit questions, enrollment changes, direct deposit, password resets, etc.
  • Submits employee data reports by assembling, preparing, and analyzing data
  • Assist with Set-up and coordination of annual on-line and manual Open Enrollment.
  • Write and post job descriptions on career websites, newspapers, and university boards;
  • Attend job fairs and career events;
  • Order office supplies for Elgin location
  • Work on special projects and assist with all other areas of the HR department.


  • Strong computer skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field;
  • 1-2 years of related experience;
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Attention to detail and payroll accuracy a must.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of experience in a related HR support role;
  • Solid knowledge of HR policies and best practices.
