PetroChoice, a leading distributor of lubricants, oils, fluids, and greases is currently recruiting a Territory Sales Manager for our Richmond Virginia market.  Our history is marked by consistent growth and expansion, which has significantly widened our scope of experience and capabilities as a lubricant distributor. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the company's sales goals through professional sales techniques and good customer service, maintaining quality relations with existing customers, developing new customer base and providing sales and marketing coverage.


The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work from home and travel; have a proven sales record and at least 2 years of experience in an outside sales position; industrial sales experience is required, lubricant sales experience preferred.

The Territory Sales Manager:


  • Contacts prospective and current customers to solicit sales of company products and services.
  • Receives customer inquiries, and performs follow up procedures to include providing price quotes, new product information, and receiving feedback regarding company products and services.
  • Follows up with sales leads generated through incoming calls, advertising campaigns and other promotional efforts.
  • Travels to existing and prospective customer locations to present company products, services and pricing information in a professional manner.
  • Increases sales with existing customers by cross selling new products.
  • Applies technical knowledge of company products and services to best meet customer needs.
  • Utilizes all sales tools available to increase time spent in direct potential customer contact including but not limited to the use of PetroChoice Specials, Company Newsletter and Supplier programs.
  • Maintains appropriate records for the development of sales forecasts for each customer.
  • Completes all new account paperwork accurately and submits in a timely fashion.
  • Maintains computer files and submits appropriate paperwork to management regarding but not limited to expense reports, mileage and call reports in accordance with submission requirements.
  • Understands and supports company sales policies, procedures and sales culture to provide proper and effective service to all customers, and foster the development of long term business relationships.
  • Assists and resolves customer complaints in a timely manner, notifies management of problems and suggests corrective actions.
  • Collects and reports competitive information to management.
  • Contributes to a systematic intelligence profile on the market and the competitors in the market for input into business planning.
  • Maintains professional sales productivity measures to include ongoing lists of prospects, suspects and key accounts, follow-up files, daily and weekly record of calls and sales presentations.
  • Participates in establishing, maintaining and achieving sales department and personal performance goals.
  • Reviews all sales and industry periodicals, as well as literature from Suppliers.
  • Attends training activities and trade shows on behalf of company to present information regarding company products and services.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in an outside sales position, preferably industrial sales, or equivalent combination of education and experience.



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to read and understand journal entries and the flow of information through a general ledger. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.



To perform this job successfully, an individual should have demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint.
