    SUMMARY  

    The Network Engineer manages, designs, and maintains an enterprise network spanning over 50 locations.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.   All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards.  Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Configures and maintains network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and other network peripherals as needed.
    • Analyzes design and performance of entire network and makes required changes to design of network architecture to meet the needs of the business.
    • Optimize performance of all network equipment.
    • Manages and maintain point to point VPNs, site to site connectivity, and Internet connectivity.
    • Manages LAN and WAN infrastructure, static and dynamic routing, and other network technologies including VoIP, VPNs, VLANs, QoS, MPLS, NAT, and BGP.
    • Evaluates network equipment requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations.
    • Maintains an accurate inventory of all network equipment and static IP information.
    • Manage firmware and software updates for all network equipment.
    • Conducts network traffic capture and analysis as needed.
    • Restore network services after system failures including troubleshooting root cause and taking corrective actions.
    • Establishes network access and security controls.
    • Monitors and maintains network stability, collects and analyzes network and memory utilization, and installs and tests software upgrades.
    • Backup network device configurations.
    • Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services.
    • Develops or establishes strong relationships with service providers.
    • Negotiates quotes and contracts with third party vendors for services and products.
    • Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and structured cabling layouts.
    • Develops, maintains, and tests disaster recovery plans.
    • Coordinates with IT Manager and other department managers to understand and meet business requirements.
    • Establishes budgetary requirements for equipment replacement.
    • Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    • Knowledge of and experience with the following technologies is essential:

    • Update skills on a regular basis to keep abreast of rapidly changing technology

    Education/Experience:

    Bachelor degree in computer science with at least three years of relevant experience, or at least five years of relevant hands on experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Language Ability:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

     

     

     

    Math Ability:

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

     

    Reasoning Ability:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

     

    Computer Skills:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and other report writing and project planning software. Experience working in an ERP environment is desirable.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit.

     

    Travel Demands:

    This position requires travel up to 50%.
