    Reporting directly to the VP of Strategy, the Pricing Analysts will be responsible for ensuring accuracy of vendor and customer pricing via timely execution and assessment of pricing changes; this will require coordinating with PetroChoice Sales and Procurement team members, as well as with key vendor representatives.  The Pricing Analysts will also work closely with various members of the Leadership Team to support ad-hoc strategic initiatives via quantitatively-oriented data analysis, generally related to margin assessment. 

     

    The successful candidate for this position will be a self-starter with sound problem-solving and time-management skills and a tolerance for ambiguity.

     

    Previous experience using SAP for cost and pricing management and previous experience working with relational databases using SQL is required; prior experience using Epicor Prophet 21 will be a strong advantage.    To be successful in this role, you must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, with deep familiarity using Excel to evaluate large datasets (i.e., using a wide range of math and reference functions); previous experience developing PowerPoint presentations will be a strong advantage.

     

    Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.   All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards.  Other duties may be assigned. 

    • Update vendor prices in the Company’s ERP systems as per announced vendor schedules and conduct impact analysis against contract pricing, rebates (coordinating with the Rebates team, as required), etc.
    • Develop contract pricing recommendations based on broad-scale vendor pricing changes, targeting opportunities to increase margins; work with Sales leaders to evaluate and implement final customer prices, including development of customer-specific collateral
    • Conduct periodic assessments of system costs and prices in item records and pricing libraries to evaluate accuracy and identify opportunities to increase margin, working with both Sales and Procurement team leaders
    • Review and assess data feeds provided by external partners, as they pertain to pricing
    • Develop and evaluate data queries/ reports to support standing and ad-hoc strategic requests

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

    Bachelor's degree (BA/ BS) from an accredited four-year College or University and 2-5 years’ related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret vendor pricing sheets, purchase and sales orders, invoices, and standard financial reports.  Ability to understand and respond to written or spoken communication pertaining to pricing from all management levels and from both Sales and Finance perspectives

     

    MATH ABILITY:             

    Ability to apply basic/ intermediate mathematical concepts, including basic statistical analysis (using Microsoft Excel) to translate vendor pricing sheets into correct per-gallon, -pound, and –unit costs and contract/ level prices and to conduct margin analysis at the corporate, regional, vendor, or customer level.

     

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to quantify current and potential profitability at the corporate, regional, vendor, or customer level, leveraging both existing data and unstructured commentary from a variety of stakeholders.  Ability to conduct scenario analysis as required to evaluate potential changes to existing vendor and/ or contract pricing regimes.  Ability to structure and evaluate ad-hoc analysis requests in both SQL and Excel
