  • Overview

    Responsible for all corporate activities involved with the fleet operation, vehicle maintenance, driver training, and certification including all DOT compliance.


    The Company reserves the right to add to, delete, change or modify the essential duties and responsibilities at any time.   All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards.  Other duties may be assigned.


    • Overall responsibility for Fleet maintenance and budgeting process.
    • Selects and manages fleet maintenance vendor relationships.  Approves all expenditures.
    • Participates in developing a multi-year truck replacement schedule and associated Capex budget.
    • Vendor selection and purchasing of all new vehicles for the company.
    • Disposal of old fleet/equipment
    • Primary contact for all hand-held related issues and GPS system, including selection, implementation, and training.
    • Supports Driver training program to ensure compliance with training and certifications by conducting ride-alongs, training, and certifying new and existing drivers. 
    • Manage and maintain active port passes, business licenses, drug testing program, Driver CDL/DOT Medical card program, Driver TWIC cards.
    • Maintains all driver DOT cards and ensure compliance with all DOT regulations.
    • Manages and administers the Driver Random Testing program.
    • Performs and maintains semi-annual MVR’s
    • Maintains metrics reports
    • Monitors equipment for compliance including Fuel truck tank tests.
    • Understands and complies with established procedures and federal regulations with regard to DOT requirements
    • Studies and recommends methods of work and productivity effectiveness.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    Supervises Fleet Coordinator including supporting new driver training and Facility Manager training as it relates to fleet/equipment.  Oversees the driver certification process and provides feedback to Facility Managers on performance and necessary training.

    Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience in fleet maintenance.  Bachelor’s degree preferred plus 2 – 5 years of related experience and/or training.



    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



    Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.



    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word processing software; Microsoft Excel spreadsheet.  Individual must also have knowledge of Centeron or other eTank monitoring system.
